SEVEN | WEEK 6 | AUTUMN AHN
I’m collaborating & transcending via‪#‎theinternet‬ with Paris-based artist Autumn Ahn on a site-specific installation at Montserrat Galleries next week. Made possible by Maggie Cavallo. Documentation to follow.
SEVENAutumn Ahn is an artist currently based in Paris, France. In recent conversations with Montserrat Galleries the topic of distance, connections and communication have become apparent as important aspects of the work she is making now. In her ‘SEVEN' installation, she will investigate the rituals of communication with friends and colleagues who are oceans apart. With the help of Boston-based creative, and founder of Spirited Magazine, Amanda Antunes, Autumn will be directing a performance and the construction of her drawing from Paris, to Beverly. Ahn received her BFA from Boston University and has exhibited regionally, and internationally, since 2009. In 2010 she was featured in Montserrat’s Frame 301, where she installed a powerful shrine, dedicated to the human body’s response to a overstimulated world.

“That is my problem with life, I rush through it, like I’m being chased. Even things whose whole point is slowness, like drinking relaxing tea. When I drink relaxing tea I suck it down as if I’m in a contest for who can drink relaxing tea the quickest.”

Do you have an idea then? What is this thing worth to us? Not enough to be forced into expecting a monetary exchange, but enough to keep it going? Not enough to make (mistake) an artist (for) a celebrity, but enough so that they can focus on what they must to make?
The more I go on, the more I realize the less I know. I hope to have a realistic view of the world some time in the coming decades, but know that I am far from it now. More and more questions, fewer and fewer answers.
